MICA Grad Show 2019 Identity

Graduates from MICA's 16 Masters programs exhibit their work annually in a range of locations and formats. The prompt: take an existing typographic mark and build a visual system to draw crowds and raise awareness. 6 months to make their work shine through billboards, advertising, motion graphics, wayfinding and more.

This visual identity system uses footprints of various gallery spaces to create a rotating set of patterns and graphics. Set in MICA's color palette, of course. I was honored to be the first Alum to be hired to take on this project.

  • These fabricated forms allowed for subtle rearrangements, meaning exhibition signage could adapt easily to each unique gallery space. By rearranging the same elements as marquee walls, the system was easy to produce while keeping viewers surprised with each iteration.

  • The invitation suite contained a full-color program, which unfolded into a map. The program was accompanied by an information card. A one-color wrap brought a final punch of color and mirrored the angular gallery forms.
