Alterego is a workshop brought to the MICA Graphic Design MFA students by visiting artist Silas Munro. Interested in how personality affects design methods, Silas had us create fake personas through which to view graphic design.
My alterego, Tempest Frost, is an obsessed meteorologist. Through her I explored mixing print and digital medias, projecting motion pieces (with sound) over three printed posters. The still posters change over time through motion overlays and their accompanying sounds. In this way, the projection mimics the impact of a major weather event. At its heart, this project attempts to show how an old medium, print, can interact with modern technology.
